At The Violet Hour Exhibition

There’s a week left to catch Fight, a short film I shot in January, showing as part of At The Violet Hour, an art exhibition at the Nayland Rock Hotel in Margate.

Fight, directed by Lindsay Segall, was performed as a live site specific piece at the opening of the exhibition and was also shot as a short film, to be played on a loop for the run of the exhibition. You can find us in room 421!

At The Violet Hour is part of the Turner Contemporary’s Journeys with ‘The Waste Land’ programme, you can find out more information on their website.

Macmillan Cancer Support Commercial

I shot this advert at the beginning of January in the glamorous location of Ealing Hospital. The role I played was similar to that of a clinical nurse specialist, a job that my mum did before she retired… she approves of my performance and says it must be in my genes!

Website Refresh

I’ve given my website a wee refresh to coincide with my new headshots and updated showreel, and I’m very happy with the results! I love the new blue highlight colour, it ties everything together, it’s much better than the orange I had before. And having a film still as the hero image instead of a headshot is a more powerful statement. It feels all new and shiny now, I wonder how long until I get bored of it…?

New Commercial Agent

I recently signed with new commercial agency Branded Talent, who specialise in TV commercials, print campaigns and online advertising. The castings are starting to come in and I’ve had a recall already… fingers crossed!

The Last Six Months

I can’t believe we’re nearing the end of June already! Well, it’s been a busy first half of the year!

So what have I been up to? There’s been some voice work for the running app Zombies, Run!, and short films Figures, Faded Red and L’Erreur Laborale. Theatre-wise I have been working with the Pensive Federation again on their Significant Other festival of new writing, with a piece called ITV. I’ve also been directed twice by the lovely Dilek Latif, once in a new piece of writing Autoimmune by Serena Haywood for Scratch At The Jack, and then in Congregation as part of Lidstock, an evening of writing by Joseph Lidster at The Space.

In my spare time I squeezed in an intensive week of workshops with The Groundlings, an improvisation and sketch comedy theatre company based in LA, whose alumni include Will Ferrell, Kristen Wiig and Lisa Kudrow. I look forward to continuing my training when the brilliant Annie Sertich returns to London in the autumn… and then hopefully on to LA!

Next up… holidays!!

100 Hour Film Race

A team of us took part in a 100 Hour Film Race in December, it was exhausting but a huge amount of fun… and we learned a lot! Here a few production shots:

Voiceover Kickstart

I’m currently four weeks in to a great six week long voiceover course run by Guy Michaels at Round Island. It only takes about 15 mins a day and is full of practical advice from industry experts. It covers everything from microphone technique to setting up a home studio to promotion and branding. And if that’s not enough to entice you… it’s completely free!

I recorded my voicereel with Guy at the end of last year and have done a few wee jobs since but was at a bit of a loss as to how to progress in the industry. I now feel much more confident and can’t wait to put everything I’m learning into practice!

If it sounds like something you might be interested in, the next course starts in February and you can sign up here.

Short Film Shoot

Here’s a wee sneaky peak at a test shot for a short I’m filming tomorrow. We have an amazing 35th floor location with stunning views over the city, and some very talented people onboard including: director Mal Woodford, DOP Gabe Sosa and fellow actor Eric Geynes. I love my character and have great fun acting with Eric… bring on tomorrow!

Since We Last – Update

The picture has been locked on Since We Last (dir. Ben Grady), a short I filmed at the end of last year. The music is being composed, then there’s just the sound design to be done before it’s ready to be released into the big bad world! I have only seen a rough cut, so very much looking forward to seeing the final version.
